Privacy Policy
Last updated August 22, 2026
This policy was drafted to accurately describe what the GaveIn app actually collects and does, based on a review of its codebase and infrastructure as of the date above. It has not been reviewed by a lawyer. Have it reviewed by legal counsel before relying on it for an App Store / Play Store submission or a public launch.
GaveIn (“GaveIn,” “we,” “us”) is a mobile app where you post a photo of a moment you’re resisting temptation, other players make a blind prediction on whether you’ll give in, and you reveal what actually happened. This policy explains what information the app collects, why, and what your options are.
Information we collect
Account information
- Your email address, used to sign you in with a one-time code (no password).
- An automatically assigned player number (e.g. “PLAYER 010”), and an optional display name you can set yourself.
- Your country, detected automatically from your device’s region setting when you sign in. This is a coarse, country-level signal only — GaveIn does not request or use precise (GPS) location.
Photos
When you post a round, you capture a photo with your device’s camera. You can optionally capture a second “proof” photo when you reveal the outcome. These photos are stored in our cloud storage and, once posted, are publicly viewable by anyone with the direct file link — sharing them is the point of the app, so treat anything you photograph accordingly.
Activity and gameplay data
- The rounds you post (captions, photos, your self-rated difficulty, and eventual outcome).
- The predictions (votes) you cast on other players’ rounds. Your vote is sealed — the poster never sees who voted or what any individual person picked, only aggregate results.
- Your in-app flame balance and any flames you choose to wager on a prediction. Flames are a virtual, in-app-only currency with no real-world monetary value. They cannot be purchased with real money, exchanged for cash, or transferred to another player. GaveIn does not collect or process any payment or financial information.
- If you report another player’s content, we store your report and your account identifier so we can review it.
Push notification token
If you allow notification permission, your device registers a push token with Apple/Google’s push services (relayed through Expo’s push notification service) and we store that token against your account so we can deliver notifications — for example, that a round you voted on was revealed, or that someone voted on your own round. You can revoke this at any time in your device’s notification settings.
What we don’t collect
- Phone numbers — sign-in is email-only, and no phone number is requested or stored.
- Precise or background location — only a coarse, device-reported country, and only at sign-in.
- Your contacts, calendar, or files.
- Audio or video — the app only ever captures still photos; it does not access your microphone.
- Advertising identifiers, third-party analytics SDKs, or cross-app tracking. GaveIn shows no ads.
How we use this information
We use the information above to:
- Operate the core mechanics of the app — rounds, predictions, reveals, flames, leaderboards, and streaks.
- Send you sign-in codes by email and, if you’ve enabled it, push notifications about activity that involves you.
- Review reports of objectionable content and take action on them.
- Maintain the security and integrity of the service — for example, preventing abuse of the voting or wagering systems.
Who we share it with
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run the app. We don’t sell your personal information, and we don’t share it with advertisers or data brokers.
- Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider. All app data described above is stored with Supabase.
- Resend — delivers the sign-in code emails we send you.
- Expo / Apple / Google — relay push notifications to your device, if you’ve enabled them.
Data retention and deletion
Your rounds, photos, and votes are kept until you delete them or delete your account. In-app notifications automatically roll off after 24 hours (they’re a recent-activity feed, not a permanent inbox), though the underlying activity they refer to isn’t affected.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from Settings → Delete Account. This immediately and permanently removes your profile, your posted rounds and photos, and your votes. This action can’t be undone.
Children’s privacy
GaveIn is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country, if higher). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
